Mega Beats Featherknight | TFT Fan Design + Splash - Neon Nights Glow Up Contest

Featherknight concept done for TFT's Neon Nights Glow Up Contest! I had 4 days to concept and 4 days to paint the splash.

Great thanks to my friends for providing feedback and encouragement along the way. When it came to a futuristic theme, I wanted to create something unique and embed a bit of my personal vibe (of speakers, synthwaves, and plushies). I had a lot of fun pushing myself and ground myself in problem-solving in the present, step by step to get to the final stage!

Inspired by synthwaves and neon-lit arcades, I wanted to create the doll-like figure as speakers!

Early brainstorming on the topic of cybernetics. Originally was going for a more chemtech feel.

Even more earlier iterations. Immediately kicked off with the music theme, and throughout until the end, stuck with the overall combination of cool+warms.

Some earlier variations to test in-game readability+shapes! I really liked the pop feel but settled for the samurai feel with the helmet, as it created more intrigue!

Chose 3 in the end for its simplicity, but the feather on its head was also quite interesting. It was during this time the concept of speakers came into play through the shape language of the design.

Instead of pointing a mic at the audience, which I felt was odd, swapped to a megaphone instead; works thematically at pointing at the units!

Thumbnails! I chose A because I wanted to show its entire body and hair, which is the main selling point of the concept.

Splash! Wanted to show off its body glow and the feel of the neon world it may live in!
